About This Campaign

Move your feet in the right direction! Join us for our 2nd Annual 11K Walk for Possibility on Thursday March 2, 2017 from 8am to noon. Half the funds you raise will benefit your team's agency, and the other half will go to United Way of the Lower Mainland.

The event will begin at BC211 in the Woodwards building lobby with registration and event kick off, followed by optional designated stopping points at United Way funded agencies listed below. Please join us for a celebration and light lunch at United Way of the Lower Mainland,  4543 Canada Way Burnaby.

Campaign to Support United Way of the Lower Mainland

United Way has been helping people in the Lower Mainland for over 86 years. United Way funds 146 local organizations that provide over 318 programs and services in 26 communities in the Lower Mainland.  With your help, United Way puts together the right resources and people to move  families from poverty to possibility, help kids be all they can be, and build strong communities for all.

Walk for Possibility – Thursday March 2, 2017

8-8:30am registration at BC211 - Woodwards building lobby - 111 West Hastings, Vancouver

9am Walk to United Way begins

11:00-1pm Wrap up event at United Way

Where does the event begin? The walk will begin with registration from 8am-8:30am at  BC211 - Woodwards building lobby - 111 West Hastings, Vancouver. We encourage all participants to attend the registration,even if you are not able to do the entire walk.

What is the route? Detailed walking route can be found here

What if I cannot attend the event but still want to fundraise for my team? You are welcome to fundraise for the event and support your team in their fundraising efforts.

What if I cannot walk the full 11KM? Join us at BC211 and then walk for as long as you are able to. There are designated stopping points along the way where you can take a break, use washroom facilities or choose to end your walk if you like.

Will there be transit provided? Unfortunately, transit will not be provided. We encourage attendees to carpool, use transit and consider leaving a vehicle at the end of the walk route (United Way of the Lower Mainland 4543 Canada Way, Burnaby) where there is ample free parking.

Is there food onsite? There will be light refreshments provided at United Way beginning at approximately 11am and will be available until all walkers have arrived.

What should I wear? Be sure to dress for the weather! Show your team spirit by wearing your agency’s t-shirts, or hats, capes, use your imagination! For safety reasons, please ensure that the costumes will not interfere with your vision or ability to move.

How many people can be on a team? There is no limit to the number of team members but all team members MUST register in advance on our website.

Where does the money go? All funds raised will be divided equally between your team’s agency and United Way of the Lower Mainland which works with our agency partners to help move families from poverty to possibility, help kids be all they can be and build stronger communities for all. Will people who sponsor me get a tax receipt for making a donation? Will you accept offline donations made by cash or cheque? Tax receipts will be sent to everyone who makes a donation including individual team members, friends, family and colleagues who sponsor you as well. Receipts will be sent via email after an online donation is made. Offline donations of cash and cheque will be accepted during registration at the BC211 on Thursday March 2 from 8-9:30am. Be sure to include the donor's full name, email and mailing address if they want to receive a tax receipt for their donation. Our fundraising website will remain open until Friday March 24th, 2017 for online donations.
